SEYMOUR – The Friends of Seymour CT Public Library recently awarded four $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from the town of Seymour.
Three Seymour High School students and one Nonnewaug High School student were the recipients. Criteria were to have a GPA of 3.0 or better, be involved in extracurricular activities, volunteer in community service and have a financial need.
Jenna Sabatini (SHS) plans to attend Southern Connecticut State University, majoring in Special Education; Anuhya Shah (SHS) will be attending Quinnipiac University to become a Physician Assistant in Health Sciences: Aubry Wasko will be attending UCONN or Central Connecticut State University majoring in Mechanical Engineering; and Connor Cabeleira (NHS) plans on attending Sacred Heart University majoring in Chemisty (Pre-med track.)
The personal statements – why they deserved the scholarship – were amazing. One graduate will be the first in their family to attend college, another chose their career after a family member passed away. Through volunteer and community work, another recipient learned how this could make a positive impact in the community, and another learned how science can positively affect people’s lives and health.
Our congratulations to these scholarship awardees, and heartfelt best wishes to them in pursuit of their goals. May they all achieve success.
