Patricia Mitchell, age 87, wife of the late William Mitchell and resident of Margate, FL (formerly Ansonia, CT) entered into eternal rest with her loving family by her side April 24, 2026 at Hospice in Miami, FL.
She was born on July 22, 1938 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (Roach) Walsh.
She graduated from Southern CT State University and became an elementary school teacher within the Shelton School System.
After raising her two daughters, she started her second career as a postal clerk for the Shelton Post Office where she met all with a smile and helping hand.
Patty was secretary of Tuesday Night Ladies Bowling League for several years. She was an avid Yankees fan, proud of her Irish Heritage, loved the beach and her winter tan,
and enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and St. Patrick’s Day.
Her father called her “The Salt of the Earth” and it was a fitting title as she was down-to-earth, humble and kind.
She is survived by daughters, Tricia Mitchell Morse of Margate, FL and Tracy Mitchell Conlon and her husband Mark also of Margate, FL; her grandchildren, Kellie, Kerrie and Katie Morse of Vernon and Thomas Conlon of Essex; her sisters Maureen (Jay) Glass and Marge (Brad) Brown of Shelton; her nephew Patrick Glass and several additional
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her three brothers; Michael, Daniel and Brian Walsh. She cherished her family including her Grand dogs Annabel, Opal, Bailey, Penny and Chloe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday June 27th at 10am at the Church of Assumption, Ansonia.
Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, Derby. Calling hours will be held prior to Church from 8am to 9:30am at the James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Assumption, 61 N. Cliff St., Ansonia, CT 06401.
