ANSONIA: Betty J. (Sharrow) Balisciano, age 76, unexpectedly entered eternal rest on June 14, 2026, at her home in Ansonia. She was the beloved wife of James Balisciano.
Born in Ticonderoga, New York, on May 11, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Jean (Porter) Sharrow. Betty was employed for many years as a mortgage processor with Sikorsky Financial Credit Union in Stratford until her retirement. Betty’s greatest joy was traveling. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, including destinations throughout Europe and the Caribbean. Many of her favorite adventures were shared with close friends who accompanied her and James on their numerous trips. Of all the places she visited, Italy held a special place in her heart, and she cherished two memorable trips there with dear friends. She especially enjoyed annual trips to Saratoga, New York, where they gathered with lifelong friends to enjoy the horse races and create lasting memories. An enthusiastic antique collector, Betty delighted in searching for treasures that reflected her appreciation of French interior design. She took great pride in creating a beautiful home and landscape, combining her love of gardening, antiques, and French-inspired design. Betty was known as a “botany encyclopedia” because of her extensive knowledge and passion for flower gardening. She diligently attended to her beautiful flower gardens and took meticulous care of her yard. Betty was an avid fan of UConn Men’s Basketball and a longtime season ticket holder who rarely missed the excitement of game day. Above all, Betty treasured time spent with her family and loved ones.
In addition to her husband James, Betty leaves to cherish her memory, son, Robert A. Balouskus and grandson, Tyler Balouskus, both of Waialua, Hawaii, daughter, Alissa R. Balouskus of Wallingford, CT, sister, Carol Parise of Thomaston, CT, nephew, Philip Parise of Washington, CT, niece, Ashley Parise of Thomaston, CT and her beloved canine companions, Luke and Lily.
