ANSONIA — The Julian A. Taylor Scholarship Committee announces 2026
Ansonia High School graduate, Arieonna Richards, is the recipient of the 2026, $5,000 Julian A. Taylor Scholarship. She will be attending Quinnipiac University where she looks forward to continuing her education and making a positive impact on the world.

The Julian A. Taylor Scholarship Fund was established in 1982 to honor and continue the
ideals of the late Rev. Dr. Julian A. Taylor, former Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church.

The $5,000 Julian A. Taylor Scholarship Award is presented to the highest ranking African American Senior with an 85 or above average attending a four-year University/College.
In addition, 21 African American students in grades 3 to 11 attending Ansonia Public Schools will receive a $100 JAT Scholars award. The students are Jewel Lewis, Preston Poteete, Volf Jean, Woodly Vixama, Lydia Stewart, Emily Depass, Destiny Taylor, Amir Wragg, Xavier Reid, Beatrice Sherman, Daniel Perkins, Omarion Wynter, Paige Diaz, Don’Nijah Reese, Sarah Heslop, Kevin Bronson, Eviana Stewart, Aubree Vereen, Israel Kalonji, Hendry Lombert, and Aaliyah Marie Ballester.

The 44th award dinner will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the Grassy Hill
Country Club, Orange, CT. Ticket donation is 50.00.

The event speaker will be Sharmee Walton, Multifunctional Manufacturing Senior
Manager at Sikorsky Aircraft/Lockheed Martin. Sharmee is a trusted leader and a sought-after partner in the aerospace and defense industry.
