SEYMOUR, CT: Carol Dee Smith, age 66, entered eternal rest on June 30, 2026, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the wife of Richard J. Meiers.
Born in Tecumseh, Oklahoma on July 4, 1959, she was the daughter of the late William and Vida Belle (Harlin) Smith. Carol was a resident of Seymour for thirty-four years. She was employed as an environmental scientist for Partner Engineering in Rocky Hill. Carol was a gifted and skilled writer who enjoyed documenting her own journals. She had an affinity for the outdoors and especially loved freshwater fishing. Carol dabbled in photography and loved capturing the beauty of nature in her photos. She had a deep passion and respect for Native American history and loved to learn and research about their customs and traditions. Carol had a heart of gold. She approached life with a rare, free spirit. She saw the beauty in the world and loved expressing that vision through her creativity. Most of all, she will be remembered for how deeply she cared for the people around her.
In addition to her husband Richard, Carol leaves to cherish her memory, son, Dakota I. Meiers and his wife Emily of Gilmanton, NH, brother, Lynn Smith and his wife Debbie of Snohomish, WA, sisters, Eugenia O’Neal of Tecumseh, OK and Lori Murdock and her husband Kelly of Tecumseh, OK, granddaughter, Addison Meiers of Gilmanton, NH along with several nieces and nephews.
