ANSONIA — The Gordon-Visselli American Legion Post 50 of Ansonia has hoisted a new flag in downtown Ansonia at Veterans Park to commemorate America’s 250th birthday.

Post 50 intends to fly the Betsy Ross flag until Veterans Day to continue the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Legion invites everyone to visit Veterans Park to mark this special year by taking photographs of themselves with the flag in the background and posting them on social media. They also invite all citizens to fly American flags at their own homes, along with other patriotic decor for the rest of the year. “This is a special year for our nation and we should celebrate it and show our pride for more than just a weekend,” said Pat Henri, Post 50 Adjutant. “If you have never had a flag flying on your house, this is the perfect time to do so.” God bless America!
