Rosanna Mae Velez of Derby, Connecticut, lovingly known as Rose, Rosie, and Mama Rose, entered this world on November 3, 1941, and peacefully passed away on July 2, 2026. She lived a life defined by faith, love, and generosity. A devoted woman of God, she touched countless lives through her quiet strength, compassionate heart, and unwavering kindness.
Rose was a loving mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and selflessness that will continue to live on through each of them.
She had a remarkable gift for making others feel loved. Her warm hugs brought comfort, her smile brightened every room, and at church she became known for always carrying bags of candy simple, sweet gestures that reflected the kindness she showed every day. She gave freely, even when she had little, always putting others before herself.
Rose is lovingly remembered by her children: Anthony Therrien and his wife, Laurie; Karen D’Agostino; Kathy Seda and her husband, Eduardo; and Rachael Ryan and her husband, Shawn; her brother, Andrew Therrien and his wife, Pamela; her six cherished grandchildren; her great-grandchild; extended family; and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Vertical Church in West Haven, CT on July 10, 2026, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., where family and friends are invited to gather, celebrate her life, and honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Mary Wade Nursing Home and Connecticut Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, dignity, and love they showed Rose throughout her journey. Your compassion brought comfort not only to Rose, but to our entire family, and we will always be deeply grateful.
