Angelo T. Minardi Sr., 91, of Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on January 19, 1935, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Angelo was the son of the late Giuseppe and Antonia Minardi. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Georgina Fleming Minardi; his grandsons, Sean Bertanza and Robert Thompson IV; and his brothers, John and Joseph Minardi.
Angelo was a gifted hairstylist and co-owner of Maurice George Hair Salon in Westport with his longtime business partner, Vasil Batsu. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned a reputation for his exceptional talent and had the opportunity to style the hair of several Hollywood actors. He took great pride in his work and in the many friendships he built over the years.
Above all, Angelo treasured his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than gathering everyone together for a traditional Italian Sunday sauce, creating memories around the table that will be cherished for generations. He loved spending weekends at Seaside Park, where simple moments with family became lifelong traditions.
In his later years, Angelo found happiness in life’s quieter pleasures. He could often be found playing backgammon with his beloved Georgina—always insisting on bending the rules just enough to keep things interesting. He delighted in watching the birds visit his backyard and spent peaceful afternoons sitting beside his daughters pond, counting fish and frogs and appreciating the beauty of nature.
Angelo is survived by his loving children: Karen Bertanza (Mark), Theresa Thompson , Derek Minardi, Mary Soracco (Andy), and Angelo Minardi Jr. (BettyJo). He is also survived by his brother, Vincent Minardi (Patricia), as well as 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews all of whom will carry forward his love, humor, traditions, and enduring legacy.
In keeping with Angelo’s generous spirit, he chose to donate his body to science, leaving one final gift in the hope of advancing medical education and research.
