Theresa “Terry” Kathleen Lieder, age 76 of Southbury, died peacefully at Griffin Hospital on July 16, 2026. Born in Derby on September 22, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gladys Madura Mendyk.
Ms. Lieder was raised in Derby and was a graduate of Derby High School. She enjoyed a diverse background working as a licensed real estate agent, a kitchen designer for the former Stevenson Lumber Company, a food & beverage professional for several area eateries including Across from the Horse, Thatcher’s & Tartufo’s and lastly as an advertising representative for The Heritage Villager Newspaper, until the time of her retirement in 2020.
Together with her partner, she rescued many mini schnauzers and cairn terriers through the years. Her gentle love and compassionate spirit were evident in the care she provided for all animals, wild and domestic. Terry found great solace every year on Cape Cod, especially Eastham, Wellfleet and the National Seashore.
She is survived by her best friend and companion of 30 years, Timothy Mosher of Southbury; dear cousins, Thomas Sadick of VA and Joanne Grailich Slowik and her husband, Robert; her cherished goddaughter, Karen Slowik Walsh and her husband, William of Prospect; as well as several other cousins.
