Thomas John Jensen, Sr. age 72, of Shelton, CT passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Debra (Hildebrand) Jensen. Tom was born in Pittsfield, MA on January 18, 1954. Son of the late Donald and Mary (Hanlon) Jensen.
Tom was a carpenter by trade and went on to property management. He retired in 2019 but went on to do one more job that was Trolley Point in Derby. He was very active in St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Shelton where he was President of the Men’s Club for many years before stepping down. He also helped build the parish center and was on the Finance Committee.
Tom was a 1972 graduate of Shelton High School and was Tri Captain of the football team. He was also on the track team and broke the mile record. He also attended one year at Central Connecticut State College. Tom also loved riding his bike, playing his guitar and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed family vacations at the beach with his grandchildren. Tom had the best sense of humor and the kids loved his jokes. To those that knew him he will be remembered for his infectious laugh and funny jokes. Tom was always willing to help his friends with whatever projects they were doing.
He is the cherished father of two children Amie Buono (Anthony) of Seymour, Thomas Jensen (Jaymie) of Shelton and six grandchildren Kaylee Ritchel, Anthony Buono, Lexi Buono, Aylana Jensen, Savanah Jensen and Cayden Jensen. He is also survived by four brothers James Jensen (Carol) Paul Jensen (Annette), Robert Jensen (Audrey) and Stephen Jensen (Robin) and one sister Norine Tierney and many nieces and nephews.
On Friday, July 24th, friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Saturday, July 25th, friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton.
