SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from July 27, 2026 through Aug. 2, 2026.
Seymour police received 219 calls for service and made six arrests.
JULY 27, 2026
8:15 a.m. — A caller told police a man sitting in a gray Nissan appeared to be drinking from a bottle of vodka inside his car in the Starbucks parking lot on West Street. Police said the man was gone upon their arrival.
11:46 a.m. — Someone reported the fencing around the Congregational Cemetery on South Main Street was damaged.
3:30 p.m. — A Pheasant Drive resident told police a man wearing a navy-blue shirt and khakis was soliciting in the neighborhood. Police advised the individual they need a permit for door-to-door soliciting.
4:29 p.m. — Police conducted speed enforcement on Brookfield Road.
5:07 p.m. — A caller told police several dirt bikes were riding up and down Old Ansonia Road causing a disturbance. Police said the dirt bikes were gone upon their arrival.
JULY 28, 2026
10:18 a.m. — Police conducted speed enforcement on Skokorat Street.
12:30 p.m. — Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Broad and West streets with injuries reported.
3:17 p.m. — A Bank Street business owner told police a car was parked in front of his business for more than two hours. Police issued a parking infraction.
6:26 p.m. — Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on North Street.
JULY 29, 2026
10:14 a.m. — Police conducted speed enforcement on Old Ansonia Road.
2:04 a.m. — Police were called to Seymour Middle School on Mountain Road for an alarm sounding at a rear door. An officer found a door was partially open and the door was secured. There were no further issues.
1:45 p.m. — A caller told police someone stole the cooking oil he was supposed to pick up at the Houstonic House restaurant on Roosevelt Drive.
2:30 p.m. — Police charged a 49-year-old Derby man with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief.
3 p.m. — Police charged a 45-year-old Shelton woman with use of drug paraphernalia, third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief.
5:02 p.m. — A caller told police a tree was down near River and Bank streets, blocking the road.
JULY 30, 2026
10:28 a.m. — Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident near Fountain Lake and Great Hill roads. No injuries were reported.
3:16 p.m. — Police conducted speed enforcement on Bunting Road.
3:50 p.m. — A French Street resident told police water was coming out of the ground on his property a few feet from the road. Police said there was a water main break and notified Aquarion.
4:26 p.m. — A Kulas Terrace resident told police his social media accounts were hacked.
11:30 p.m. — Police charged Ivan Espejo, 38, of Hamden, with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs. He was arrested in the Klarides Village parking lot on Bank Street.
JULY 31, 2026
8:57 a.m. — Police conducted speed enforcement on Derby Avenue.
9:47 a.m. — An Oriole Lane resident told police his credit card was hacked.
4:56 p.m. — Police were called to a medical emergency at a group home on Frances Drive.
6:01 p.m. — Police received a walk-in complaint about someone driving erratically on Route 67.
AUG. 1, 2026
6:47 a.m. — Police responded to Stop & Shop on Franklin Street for an alarm sounding. Police said the area was secure, and there were no issues.
7:53 a.m. — Police conducted speed enforcement on Skokorat Street.
10:25 a.m. — A caller told police there was an injured deer in the middle of the road on Roosevelt Drive. An officer dispatched the deer.
11:47 a.m. — A Rimmondale Street resident told police he has been receiving multiple packages that he did not order.
5:33 p.m. — Police received numerous calls from residents of Balance Rock apartments about an appliance fire. The fire department put out the fire and residents were allowed back into their residences.
9 p.m. — Police charged a 38-year-old Shelton man with second-degree breach of peace.
AUG. 2, 2026
9:27 a.m. — Police conducted speed enforcement on Bungay Road.
10:58 a.m. — Police were called about a body floating in the Housatonic River on Roosevelt Drive under a private dock. Police said the man may have been a missing person from Derby. The untimely death was ruled a suicide, according to police.
12:15 a.m. — Police charged a 47-year-old Seymour man with disorderly conduct, threatening and second-degree unlawful restraint.
11:48 a.m. — Police charged a 23-year-old Middlefield woman with second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and second-degree breach of peace.
5:26 p.m. — An employee of Walgreens on Bank Street told police a man was singing and soliciting outside the store and wanted him to leave. Police spoke with the man and he left the premises.
7:05 p.m. — A caller told police a man wearing shorts and a t-shirt was standing on the other side of the bridge on Bank Street and appeared to be “freaking out.” Police checked the area and said they didn’t observe anyone on the bridge.
