SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Aug. 17, 2026 through Aug. 23, 2026.
Seymour police received 282 calls and made one arrest.
Monday, AUG. 17, 2026
6:47 a.m. The owner of Family Sunoco on New Haven Road (Route 67) told police a car with no plates had been parked in front of the gas station for three days. Police said the vehicle was not stolen and the registration was cancelled and told the gas station owner he could do what he wanted with the car.
9:50 a.m. Police responded to the scene of two-car accident in front of Allen’s Plumbing on Bank Street. No injuries were reported.
10:39 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Botsford Road. No violations were observed.
2:06 p.m. The animal control officer responded to West Church Street for a report of an injured hawk.
8:39 p.m. Police conducted stop sign enforcement on Beecher Street.
9:41 p.m. An Elmwood Drive resident told police she heard a loud band and then saw smoke, but no fire was visible. Police checked the area and said it was all clear.
Tuesday, AUG. 18, 2026
1:20 a.m. Police were called to a residence on Davis Road for a medical emergency.
1:24 p.m. A caller told police his car was stolen from the Stop & Shop parking lot on Franklin Street. Police said the car was located, unoccupied, in the parking lot and was not stolen.
4:08 p.m. A resident told police a “projectile” hit his car while he was traveling on Roosevelt Drive, and believed a group of juveniles were throwing things at passing cars.
4:32 p.m. A caller told police a dog was barking inside a car with no windows open in the Stop & Shop parking lot on Franklin Street. Police checked on the dog and said the car, a Tesla, was running in “dog mode” and said the dog was fine.
5:31 p.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Skokorat Street.
Wednesday, AUG. 19, 2026
8:30 a.m. An Elm Street resident told police someone broke his car door handle and rummaged through his car overnight.
3:54 p.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Bungay Road.
3:55 p.m. The manager at Stop & Shop on Franklin Street told police a man and a woman stole some lobsters and fled in a red Chevy Malibu.
4:49 p.m. Police charged a 58-year-old Seymour man with sixth-degree larceny.
8:02 p.m. A Colony Road resident reported her children who were out riding their bikes were missing. The resident called police back and said the children returned home and there were no further issues.
11:05 p.m. A caller told police cars were playing loud music in the Klarides Village parking lot.
Thursday, AUG. 20, 2026
2:02 p.m. A caller told police an elderly man wearing a yellow safety vest was walking in the middle of the road on Old Ansonia Road an appeared confused. Police said the man was gone upon their arrival.
2:18 p.m. An Emma Street resident told police there was a suspicious car parked in front of a house and the caller said the person doesn’t live in the neighborhood. Police said the woman in the car was a landscaper’s girlfriend who was doing work in the area.
6:22 p.m. Police conducted cell phone enforcement on Bank Street.
Friday, Aug. 21, 2026
9:58 a.m. Police set up a speed enforcement detail on Botsford Road. No violations were observed.
2:02 p.m. Police set up a speed enforcement detail in the area of Derby Avenue and Emery Street. About 100 vehicles were observed, all traveling at reasonable speeds.
2:39 p.m. A caller from Maple Street reported a bat was inside the house.
6:24 p.m. A motorist reported an erratic drive in the area of Skokorat Street and New Haven Road. The vehicle was tailgating and hopped a curb to get around the caller. Police stopped the vehicle on Route 8 south and told the driver to be mindful when traveling.
9:26 p.m. A burglar alarm was triggered at the Rejoice dispensary on New Haven Road. Police responded and determined it was a false alarm.
Saturday, AUG. 22, 2026
3:57 a.m. A resident from North Main Street reported that her car was stolen.
9:01 a.m. Police set up a speed enforcement detail on Great Hill Road at Laurel Lane. About 70 vehicles went by, all traveling at reasonable speeds.
9:43 a.m. A caller from West Church Street reported that someone smashed the rear window of his vehicle.
10:22 a.m. Police set up a speed enforcement detail on Holbrook Road between Cemetary road and a rotary. About 70 vehicles passed, all traveling at reasonable speeds.
12:47 p.m. Police set up a speed enforcement detail on Bungay Road. About 90 vehicles passed, all traveling at reasonable speeds.
5:49 p.m. A crash involving a motorcycle or moped was reported on Davis Road. The driver was alert and conscious.
Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026
4:31 p.m. Police helped a child who had been accidentally locked in a vehicle on North Street.
11:15 p.m. Police received a call about suspicious activity at Sochrins Park. A man said he was walking his dog. Police advised the man of the park’s hours of operation.
