Alex J. Toth, age 95, of Shelton, peacefully entered into rest on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in his home with his loving family by his side. He is the beloved husband of 65 years to Janice (Gummoe) Toth. Alex was born in Bridgeport on May 25, 1931, to the late John and Anna (Demoicy) Toth, and lived in Shelton for 54 years. He proudly served his country in the US Navy in the Korean War.

He was an employee of Sikorsky Aircraft for over 40 years, where he worked as a Foreman in the machine shop before his retirement. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed bowling and was a skilled woodworker. Most of all he cherished his family and he loved spending time with them all.

He is the beloved father of Donna Moreno (Tony), Debbie Shuster (Brian), David Toth, Sr. (Claire), and Amy Cone Landan, proud grandfather of Chris Moreno (Carrie), Alexa Bottoni (Kris), Tim Shuster (Bianca), Megan Carter (Patrick), David Toth, Jr., Scott Toth (Ashley), Michael Cone, and Samantha Cone, and great-grandfather of Conor, Aubrey, Ryan, Abigail, Collins, Camryn, Cade, Grayson, and Vivienne. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, June Brown and Nancy Alhawamdeh (Lenny), and many nieces and nephews. Alex was predeceased by a brother, John Toth, and three sisters, Peggy Janik, Betty Papp, and Pricilla Pete Scanlon.

Alex’s family would like to thank the staff of Benchmark at Split Rock, especially the Harbor Team for their compassionate care.

Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Monday, August 31, from 5 to 7 PM. On Tuesday, everyone is invited directly to St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will immediately follow with Military Honors at Huntington Lawn Cemetery East, Lane Street Shelton.
