SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Aug. 24, 2026 through Aug. 30, 2026.

Seymour police received 301 calls and made 11 arrests.

AUG. 24, 2026

1 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Roosevelt Drive. The driver suffered facial injuries.

7:13 a.m. Police charged Emanuel Caldwell, 45, of Shelton, with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs. He was arrested on Franklin Street.

10:41 a.m. Police responded to a report of an untimely death at Haynes Quarry on Derby Avenue. 

1:22 p.m. A resident told police he was scammed out of $310 on Facebook marketplace.

2:04 p.m. Police charged a 57-year-old Seymour man with violation of a protective order, violation of a standing criminal protective order, second-degree threatening and second-degree failure to appear.

3:07 p.m. A resident told police she was scammed out of $5,000 from a moving company.

AUG. 25, 2026

10:55 a.m. A North Star Drive resident told police her car was broken into overnight and several items were taken.

11:54 a.m. Police were called to residence on Oak Hill Road for a report of a toddler locked in a bedroom. The fire department was able to unlock the door.

2:41 p.m. Police received a report of someone in a U-Haul truck driving erratically on Roosevelt Drive.

3:53 p.m. A Kathy Drive resident told police someone stole a package on his front porch.

5:41 p.m. Police conducted stop sign enforcement on Carriage Drive.

10:16 p.m. A caller told police people riding in a red Volkswagen were jumping in and out of the car “provoking people.” Police said the individuals were just dancing outside the vehicle and there were no further issues.  

AUG. 26, 2026

1:18 a.m. Police were called to Ideal Plaza on North Street for a report of a man found dead in the parking lot.

1:33 a.m. A Richards Avenue resident told police he heard a woman screaming for help in the area. Police checked the area and said it was all clear and there were no issues.

8:06 a.m. Police conducted radar on Bungay Road.

3:08 p.m. Police were called to Chatfield-LoPresti School on Skokorat Street for a child custody dispute.

4:15 p.m. Police charged a 43-year-old Seymour man with second-degree breach of peace and violation of a protective order.

AUG. 27, 2026

11:29 a.m. Police charged a 49-year-old Derby man with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree mischief.

11:29 a.m. Police charged a 47-year-old Seymour woman with sixth-degree larceny.

4:33 p.m. Police charged a 45-year-old Shelton woman with violation of probation, third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief.

7:18 p.m. Police charged a 43-year-old Seymour man with violation of probation.

9:50 p.m. Police charged Kurt Simmeth, 62, of Trumbull, with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and following too closely. He was arrested on Bank Street.

AUG. 28, 2026

2:03 a.m. Police charged Melanie Quiles, 42, of Seymour, with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, illegally carrying a firearm under the influence of alcohol/drugs and drinking while driving. She was arrested at the intersection of New Haven Road (Route 67) and Day Street.

7:33 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement near Chatfield-LoPresti School on Skokorat Street.

9 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on New Haven Road (Route 67).

1:06 p.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on South Main Street near Colony Road.

4:46 p.m. An Old Ansonia Road resident told police several juveniles were riding mini-bikes in the road and “flipped her off” when she turned into her driveway. Police said the juveniles were gone upon their arrival.

AUG. 29, 2026

8:31 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Derby Avenue near Emery Street.

1:38 p.m. Police were called to the fieldhouse at Seymour High School on Botsford Road for an alarm sounding. An employee said she put the wrong code in and there were no further issues.

3:15 p.m. A caller told police an intoxicated man was bothering customers at Train Station pizza on Main Street and asking for rides. Police said the man was located at a table inside and was given a ride home from his father and there were no further issues.

3:58 p.m. Police conducted stop sign enforcement on Mountain Road.

AUG. 30, 2026

8:12 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Holbrook Road.

11:50 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the Klarides Village plaza on Bank Street.

4:54 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from a residence on Sachem Road. Police said a child accidentally dialed 911 and there were no issues.

6:56 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on South Main Street.

8:36 p.m. Police were called to a residence on Second Avenue for a medical emergency.
