Carmella Cybart, age 65 of Derby, beloved wife of the late Andrew Cybart, died peacefully on August 31, 2026 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Born in Derby on February 11, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Michael H. and Emily German Cavallaro.
Mrs. Cybart was raised in Ansonia, a 1978 graduate of Ansonia High School and a lifelong valley resident. Prior to her retirement, Carmella worked as a deli clerk and bagger for the Derby Shoprite Supermarket. Previously, for many years she worked as a waitress at Valley Diner of Derby and Haroula’s Coffee Shop of Seymour. A crafty and creative person by nature, Carmella enjoyed crocheting countless blankets and scarves for family and friends. Her seasonal door wreaths adorned the doors and windows of many and even became cemetery decorations for deceased loved ones. Her true passion was collecting silver jewelry and bracelets, enhanced with polished stones. Her jewelry was featured through an online store, and the pieces have now become treasured heirlooms.
Carmella always made her family a priority. She valued spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews where their favorite past time was watching Spiderman and Happy Feet movies. Penguins and all things Spiderman brought her great joy.
Mrs. Cybart is survived by her devoted daughter, Christina A. Cybart of Derby; twin sister and best friend, Anna Cavallaro of Derby; brother, Michael Cavallaro of Derby; cherished grandchildren, Brandon and Anthony Genovese and Emilee and Jordan Cybart, all of Derby; dear nieces, Roaseann Mallette of Derby, Camille Fazzino of Derby, Aimee Burdzy of Beacon Falls; as well as many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of 19 years, Carmella was predeceased by brothers, Richard and Peter Cavallaro and a sister-in-law, Allison Cavallaro.
Family and friends may call on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon in Holy Rosary Church of the Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 10 Father Salemi Drive, Ansonia. Private interment will take place in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby.
