Prassede “Priscilla” Altimari, age 82, of Woodbridge, entered into rest on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in her home with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of 61 years to the late Rosario “Russell” Altimari.
Priscilla was born in Marzi, Italy on June 25, 1944, daughter of the late Antonio and Theresa (Fuoco) Falvo. After settling in Derby, she opened the Prassede Market in 1971, before relocating to Elizabeth Street, where she owned and operated Altimari “Little Italy” alongside her husband for 37 years. Altimari’s became an iconic gathering place embedded within the Derby community fabric.
Priscilla is the cherished mother of Amalia (Amy) Altimari and loving grandmother of Serena Arduini. She is also survived by five brothers, Erasmo, Tullio, Plinio, Raulo, and Benvenuto, a sister, Carmelina, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Vera. She was also predeceased by her cat, Lucy.
Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Her procession will leave the parlor for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at St. Mary’s Church in Derby. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
