Derf “Eric” Jansen, age 73, of Shelton, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He is the beloved husband of 46 years to Susan (Krot) Jansen. Eric was born in Derby on August 29, 1953, son of the late Richard A. and Doris (Shuster) Jansen, and was a lifelong Shelton resident.
Eric was a school bus driver for Shelton Student Transportation until he retired in 2023. He was also a former Commissioner for the Boy Scouts for 20 years. Eric had a witty sense of humor and will be sorely missed.
He is the beloved father of Chad Jansen and his girlfriend, Amanda. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce Jansen, sister Christine Jansen Bisson, a niece Faith and her husband, John, and several cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his son, Derek Jansen, and a nephew, Patrick Bisson.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 1 PM to 3 PM. His funeral service will begin in the parlor at 3 PM.
