SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Aug. 31, 2026 through Sept. 6, 2026.
Seymour police received 342 calls and made nine arrests.
AUG. 31, 2026
11:48 a.m. A Lyft driver told police a passenger would not get out of his car. Police said the man was dropped off at the wrong address and because of a language barrier was unable to communicate with the driver. Police said another Lyft driver was called to take the man to his destination and there were no further issues.
2:49 p.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Pearl and Maple streets.
6:14 p.m. Police were called to a residence on West Street for a medical emergency.
6:43 p.m. A caller told police someone driving a dark colored car with tinted windows cut him off as it approached Bank Street near Route 8 and he heard a woman screaming for help. Police said the vehicle was gone upon their arrival.
7:15 p.m. A Jay Lane resident told police her dog brought home a large femur type bone. Police said the bone belonged to an animal, not a human, and there were no further issues.
7:36 p.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Bungay Road.
SEPT. 1, 2026
1:36 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Great Hill Road.
6:07 a.m. A Pearl Street resident told police his 2025 Honda Civic was stolen overnight.
10:49 a.m. A Meadow Street resident told police his visiting nurse stole his pain medication.
3:58 p.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Holbrook Road.
10:15 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Maple Street.
SEPT. 2, 2026
5:50 a.m. A caller reported downed trees at the corner of Brookdale and Ansmour roads. Police notified the Public Works Department to remove the trees.
9:42 a.m. An employee from Stop & Shop told police someone tried to steal the historical license plate off his car twice in the last month in the store parking lot.
6:03 p.m. Police charged a 23-year-old Waterbury man with sixth-degree larceny,
7:13 p.m. Police were called to Reservoir Manor Apartments for a medical emergency.
7:25 p.m. A caller told police several kids were riding e-bikes on New Haven Road (Route 67) near Spruce Street, and they were concerned the kids were going to get hit. Police said the kids were gone upon their arrival.
SEPT. 3, 2026
9 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Skokorat Street in front of Chatfield-LoPresti School. No motor vehicle violations were observed.
12:31 p.m. Police charged a 45-year-old Seymour man with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, falsifying marker plate/license/registration, illegally operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, traveling unreasonably fast, evading responsibility and failure to drive in the proper lane.
12:49 p.m. Police received a report of a possible structure fire at a residence on New Haven Road (Route 67). There was no fire and the homeowner told police it was smoke coming from his lawn mower after he started it.
4:31 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on South Main St.
5:37 p.m. A caller told police someone in a white Jeep with a Marines sticker on it was driving erratically on Bank Street towards Oxford. Police said the vehicle was gone upon their arrival.
7:03 p.m. Police charged a 58-year-old New Haven man with violation of probation.
SEPT. 4, 2026
9:21 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Maple Street.
12:21 p.m. A caller told police someone in a Nissan Quest was driving erratically on Great Hill Road.
1:48 p.m. A caller told police a dog was running around the school grounds at Bungay School. The animal control officer was notified.
2:36 p.m. A Robin Road resident told police someone in the area was playing loud music.
3:44 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from Bungay School. Police said a staff member accidentally dialed 911 and there were no further issues.
3:45 p.m. Police assisted a driver whose car became disabled on Clinton Road.
4:05 p.m. Police charged a 31-year-old Seymour woman with second-degree failure to appear.
10:11 p.m. Police were called to a residence West Street for a medical emergency.
SEPT. 5, 2026
1:44 a.m. An employee from Dunkin Donuts on New Haven Road (Route 67) told police a homeless man was sleeping at the entrance of the store. Police advised the man to leave.
8:58 a.m. A caller told police there were low hanging wires on Sunset Terrace. Police notified Frontier about the issue.
9:23 a.m. Police were called to Union Street for a report of a verbal dispute.
11:36 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Derby Avenue.
3:25 p.m. A Great Hill Road resident told police his house was egged overnight.
4:16 p.m. A Balance Rock Road resident told police someone stole her car.
9:48 p.m. An Elmwood Drive resident told police several juveniles were throwing rocks at houses in the area and knocking over mailboxes. An officer said the juveniles were gone upon their arrival and did not observe any damage to mailboxes.
SEPT. 6, 2026
12:34 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on West Church Street.
6:36 a.m. A Colony Road resident told police three juvenile females knocked on his door asking for help and took off on foot after he turned them away. Police located the juveniles, who were from Ansonia and Derby, and contacted their parents.
8:25 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Roosevelt Drive. No motor vehicle violations were observed.
6:50 p.m. A caller told police several youths were riding ATVs and speeding past children playing in the street on Pershing Avenue and they were concerned about the children’s safety. Police said the ATVs were gone upon their arrival.
8 p.m. An Osprey Drive resident told police she heard a loud explosion in the area. Police were unable to locate the origin of an explosion and said there were no further issues.
