Dennis Paul Carroll, age 73, of Shelton, entered into eternal rest after a brief illness on September 6, 2026 with his family by his side.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sally (Greenwood) Carroll, daughters Kaitlyn Carroll, Megan Guarino, and son-in-law Nicholas Guarino, Sr. Dennis also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Nicky Jr. and Kayley Guarino. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy Tribuzio, his brothers- and sisters-in-law Jim and Debbie Greenwood, Joan Greenwood, Nancy Maglione, and Patty and Jim Fogle, and his many nieces and nephews. Dennis is also survived by a special aunt, Rosie Kukuc.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Tess Carroll, brother Jimmy Carroll, brother-in-law Bob Maglione, mother- and father-in-law Jenny and Stanley Greenwood.
Dennis was an avid New York Rangers fan and took great pride in cheering on his team, including at the 1994 Stanley Cup winning game, which he would describe as one of the greatest moments of his life. He enjoyed sharing his love for hockey with his daughters – although they grew up to be Boston Bruins fans, much to his chagrin.
More than anything, Dennis loved spending time with his family and friends, and especially took pride in being a grandfather. Dennis could always be counted on to make up games and silly moments to entertain his grandchildren. It is these moments that will remain treasured memories for his family. His family will take comfort in knowing that his love will continue on through the many memories created with those he loved.
Friends may greet his family on Friday Sept. 11, 2026 from 4 to 7 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. His funeral service will be held on Saturday Sept 12, 2026 at 10 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation 2026 New England Parkinson’s Ride or a charity of your choice.
