SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Sept. 7, 2026 through Sept.13, 2026.
Seymour police received 278 calls and made five arrests.
SEPT. 7, 2026
12:31 a.m. – Police conducted speed enforcement on Holbrook Road.
11:31 a.m. – The caretaker of the Cemetery Road cemetery told police someone stole a foot stone between Sept. 5 and Sept. 7. Police said a broken foot stone was later found in the police department parking lot on Franklin Street, and the caretaker was notified to retrieve the item.
2:11 p.m. – Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident on New Haven Road (Route 67). No injuries were reported.
10:22 p.m. – Police were called to a residence on Davis Road for a medical emergency.
11:51 p.m. – Police conducted distracted driving enforcement on Bank Street.
SEPT. 8, 2026
12:28 a.m. – Police conducted speed enforcement on Rider Avenue.
12:46 p.m. – A Meadow Street resident told police his landlord and tenants have entered his apartment when he is not home. The resident told police the landlord is looking for a reason to evict him. Police said there was no forced entry and some paperwork was missing.
4:21 p.m. – Police received a report of someone in a silver Chevy Silverado driving erratically on Derby Avenue.
5:21 p.m. – An employee from Shady Knoll healthcare facility on Skokorat Street told police a patient struck another patient.
6:15 pm. – Police charged a 36-year-old Watertown man with use of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
SEPT. 9, 2026
8 a.m. – Police conducted radar enforcement on Mountain Road.
8:58 a.m. – Police assisted a driver who said his car transmission blew on Washington Avenue.
10 a.m. – Police charged a 52-year-old Southbury man with second-degree breach of peace and a hate crime against another person. Police said there was verbal dispute over a gas pump and the individual arrested made some threats and used racially charged slurs.
2:58 p.m. – A Patrick Drive resident told police a neighbor’s dog had been running in the street and leaping at people. The animal control officer was notified.
7:44 p.m. – Police charged Edward Moroney, 65, of Seymour, with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and operating a motor vehicle under suspension. He was arrested at the intersection of Pearl and Day streets.
SEPT. 10, 2026
7:32 a.m. – Police conducted speed enforcement in front of Chatfield-LoPresti School on Skokorat Street.
11:11 a.m. – A caller told police a woman in a blue van appeared to be passed out on Pearl Street. The woman told police she’d been up all night and pulled over to rest for a while before heading to school. Police said there were no further issues.
11:14 a.m. – Police conducted speed enforcement on South Main Street.
11:28 a.m. – A Terrace Road resident reported that his medication was missing.
12:55 p.m. – Police participated in a lockdown drill at Seymour High School.
4:30 p.m. – Police charged a 41-year-old Seymour man with violation of a restraining order.
SEPT. 11, 2026
3 a.m. – Police charged a 42-year-old Seymour woman with third-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, second-degree assault and second-degree threatening.
12:49 p.m. – A Birchwood Road resident told police she was receiving harassing text messages.
1:47 p.m. – Police were called to Stop & Shop on Franklin Street for a report of shoplifting.
8:28 p.m. – Police were called to a residence on Patton Avenue for a medical emergency.
9:56 p.m. – Police assisted a driver with a disabled vehicle on Derby Avenue.
SEPT. 12, 2026
12:43 a.m. – Police conducted stop sign enforcement on Pond Street.
8 a.m. – Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Balance Rock Road.
11:19 a.m. – Police conducted speed enforcement on Fox Drive.
11:55 a.m. – A caller told police a group of people were riding ATVs and dirt bikes in the road on South Main Street. Police were unable to locate the riders.
1:11 p.m. –A New Street resident told police someone was playing loud music in the area.
1:28 p.m. – A Skokorat Street resident told police he believes someone stole her social security number.
5:17 p.m. – Police were called to a residence on Walnut Street for a medical emergency.
7:14 p.m. – A caller told police a woman wearing a grey hoodie and black shorts was overlooking the bridge near North Main Street and Lakeview Avenue and was concerned for her safety. Police said the woman was taking pictures of the highway below and there were no further issues.
SEPT. 13, 2026
2:29 a.m. – Police picked up a small white dog roaming in the area of Franklin Street and returned the dog to its owner.
2:25 p.m. – A Meadow Street resident told police someone broke into his apartment.
2:59 p.m. – Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Rimmon Road.
4:57 p.m. – A caller told police a utility pole with low hanging wire was leaning on Walnut Street.
10 p.m. – An Old Ansonia Road resident told police there was a suspicious car with its hazard lights on in the area of Moss Avenue and Old Ansonia Road.
