Donald Francis Egan, Jr., age 77, of Oxford, entered into rest on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Shady Knoll Center for Health in Seymour. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Carol A. Egan. Donald was born in Derby on November 15, 1948, son of the late Donald Francis Egan Sr. and Theresa (Gaetano) Egan.
As a graduate of UCONN School of Pharmacy, he had a long career of over 40 years working in several local pharmacies.
Donald had many interests and passions. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, and was an avid fan of the Red Sox, NY Football Giants, and UConn Sports. He also enjoyed reading and studying the stock market. Donald loved lunching with his many Brookside Inn buddies. He also loved fostering puppies for a local shelter.
He is survived by his siblings Michael Egan (Joanne), John Egan (Diane), and Mary Nebesny (Jack), brothers-in-law Gerald Tomanio (Jan) and Paul Tomanio, sisters-in-law Jane Salvitti (Steve) and Sara Tomanio, nephews David Nebesny, John Egan and Paul Egan, and nieces Marissa Salvitti, Melissa Brehm, Elizabeth Vicidomino, Lindsay Babbitt and Courtney Hill. He also leaves his beloved dog Abby. Donald was predeceased by his brother, Richard Egan.
Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM. On Friday friends are invited directly to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd, Oxford, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery in Derby.
