Joyce Elaine Parent, age 93, of Shelton entered into eternal rest on Wednesday September 16, 2026 at Bishop Wicke Healthcare Center in Shelton. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Parent. She was born in Stamford, CT on January 12, 1933 the daughter of the late Michael and Evelyn (Robinson) Bender.
Joyce worked as a sales associate in retail for many years prior to her retirement. A true “people person”, she could carry on a conversation with anyone and everyone. Her smile and presence always lit up the room. She loved camping, and spent numerous years at Camp Overflow. She loved being with people, loved playing cards, even got into puzzles, bingo and Pokeno. Her greatest passion was Pinochle. She liked to bake, especially around holidays with her daughter Sharon, her mother when she was alive and her granddaughter Kristin. The last few years of her life, she enjoyed spending time with her companion Ernest Jopp. He visited her every day until she passed. The family was happy that they found each other.
She is survived by her son Michael Parent and his wife Linda, her daughter Sharon Dunlap and her husband Edwin, her granddaughter, Kristin Parent and her husband Robert Houston and a great grandson, Benjamin Guay-McCarthy and his mother Maureen McCarthy.
Friends and family are invited to greet Joyce’s family from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday October 3rd in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton.
