Virginia M. Lagoja, age 84, of Shelton, peacefully entered into rest in her home. She was the devoted wife of William Lagoja for 56 years who predeceased her. Virginia was born in Bridgeport on August 17, 1942, daughter of the late John and Rose (Petrovitch) Pender, and she and Bill moved to Shelton in 1969.
Virginia worked for the American Chain Company in the engineering department designing dials. She later worked at the Westport/Fairfield and Town of Stratford Crier doing advertising design work.
Ginny and Bill enjoyed their trips through Europe and loved all animals, especially her Cocker Spaniels. She enjoyed draping and sewing, and loved to cook and host family and friends. She also enjoyed planting flowers and gardening.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Rosalie Lagoja, nephew Ernest (Catherine) Lagoja of Derby, niece Rosemary (Patrick) Walsh of Stratford, cousin MaryAnn Beaver (David) of South Windsor, and her caregivers and friends Tenelle Green and Timar Mitchell. She also leaves several great nieces and nephews. Ginny was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Pender.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 8 to 9 AM. Her funeral service will begin in the parlor at 9 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery in Derby.
