Paul John Haluschak, Jr., age 72, beloved husband of Ruthann Oles Haluschak of Seymour, died peacefully on October 1, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury, following a brave three-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Born in Derby on February 24, 1954, he was the son of the late Paul John Haluschak, Sr. and Salvatricia Culmo Haluschak.  Mr. Haluschak was raised in Seymour, a 1973 graduate of Seymour High School and graduate of the Connecticut Police Academy.

Immediately following his high school graduation, Paul began his lifelong journey of community service, as a supernumerary police officer for the town of Seymour.  He then became an active-duty patrolman, serving the town of Seymour for over 30 years until the time of his retirement in June of 2017.

Paul was a passionate volunteer firefighter with Paugassett Hook & Ladder Co. 4 of Derby for more than 50 years, proudly serving as a past lieutenant. His dedication to the fire service extended beyond his own company, as he was also a social member of Webster Hose Hook & Ladder Co. 3 of Ansonia, Charters Hose Co. 4 of Ansonia, and Citizens Engine Co. 2 of Seymour.

A founding member of the Southern Connecticut Antique Fire Apparatus Collectors (SCAFAC) and the Ansonia Fire Museum; Paul proudly owned and meticulously maintained six antique fire trucks. He was a familiar and enthusiastic participant in area parades and fire musters, rarely seen without his beloved Dalmatian, “Pudge,” by his side.

Paul was also a longtime member of the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum and Bugle Corps and the Connecticut Alumni Senior Drum and Bugle Corps.

He will be fondly remembered for his unwavering love of animals, his passion for the fire service, and, above all, his unselfish dedication to helping others in need.

In addition to his beloved spouse of 20 years, he is survived by a sister, Linda Hayducky and her husband, John of Seymour; a sister-in-law, Jo-Ann Rogowski and her husband, Jim of New Milford; nephews, Justin Rogowski of Ellington, Jason Rogowski of Roxbury and John Hayducky of Seymour; as well as many cousins and brothers of the Police and Fire Departments.

Family and friends may call on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Avenue, Ansonia.  Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.

Interment will be private.
