SEYMOUR – A man remained in critical condition Thursday afternoon (Nov. 5) after injuries sustained in a two-car crash on Silvermine Road.

The man, named in a report as Neyser Sinay OJ, is a 21-year-old West Haven resident.

According to Seymour Police Chief John Bucherati, officers were called near the intersection of Silvermine and Haddad roads for a motor vehicle accident at 5:01 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 4). Responders found two vehicles, a pickup truck and a Honda Accord, both of which had sustained heavy damage.

Bucherati said it appeared one of the vehicles had crossed over the center lane and struck the other one head-on.

Sinay was driving the Honda, according to Bucherati. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Sinay was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital from the scene.

After the crash, investigators with Connecticut State Police and Seymour police closed the road to reconstruct the accident and conduct an investigation. The details of the investigation – including whether drugs or alcohol were involved – could not be released as of Nov. 5, Bucherati said.

Silvermine Road was reopened by Thursday morning.
