ANSONIA – An arrest warrant details an investigation that led to a city man’s arrest on 21 drug- and gun-related charges.
Geoffrey Feliciano, 37, was arrested March 18 and charged with seven felonies and 14 misdemeanors. Police arrested him after DNA and surveillance footage evidence linked him to a duffel bag, containing handguns and drugs, in the building where he lived, the warrant states.
According to the warrant, a man called police on May 22, 2024. He reported finding a black duffel bag at the bottom of an apartment building stairwell. He said he had opened the bag and found a gun inside, along with what he believed to be drugs.
Police seized the bag and searched its contents, the warrant states. Inside, they found seven handguns wrapped inside T-shirts. Those guns included one that had been reported as stolen in 2003, as well as at least one “ghost gun” without a serial number. Police also found about 32 grams of cocaine wrapped in plastic bags, along with razor blades and other suspected drug paraphernalia.
The bag also contained about 150 pills, police said, which contained drugs such as methamphetamine, fentanyl, and ecstasy. Another bag contained about 1.6 grams of THC.
Police obtained surveillance footage from a nearby business. However, no one was seen entering or exiting the building during the time the bag was believed to have been left.
Police also obtained surveillance footage from the apartment complex. In that video, a man suspected of being Feliciano is seen leaving and re-entering the rear of the building twice, the warrant states. No duffel bag is seen in the video.
DNA tests matched a fingerprint on one of the guns to Feliciano, whose fingerprints were found in a police database. An address search showed Feliciano lived inside the apartment complex where the bag was found.
Police spoke with Feliciano, who allegedly denied that the bag was his.
“He acknowledged that it was odd that one of the guns would have his fingerprints and be found in a bag located in the same apartment building where he lives, but had no explanation for it,” the warrant states.
Police obtained a search warrant for DNA evidence, and Feliciano provided a cheek swab sample and fingerprint in November 2024.
Further tests came back in February and showed a likely match between Feliciano’s DNA and DNA found on the T-shirts and drug baggies in the duffel bag. The tests noted that each of the items appeared to contain DNA samples from multiple people.
Police arrested Feliciano March 18. He was charged with:
theft of a firearm
seven counts of failure to secure a firearm
possession of a firearm without a serial number
possession of cocaine with intent to sell
possession of cocaine
possession of fentanyl with intent to sell
possession of fentanyl
possession of MDMA with intent to sell
possession of MDMA
possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell
possession of methamphetamine
possession of cannabis with intent to sell
possession of drug paraphernalia
first-degree reckless endangerment
risk of injury to a minor
The risk of injury charge was added because there were children living in the building, according to the warrant.
Feliciano had no attorney listed on-file, either online or in court documents, as of March 31. His next court date is April 9 at Superior Court in Derby.
The arrest warrant was authored by Detective Kristen Hunt.
