ANSONIA – Police arrested an Ansonia man who allegedly stole a woman’s car, then threatened her with a gun when she asked for it back.
Demetrius Glover, 33, was arrested Sept. 4 and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and first-degree threatening with a firearm.
According to an arrest warrant, the victim told police she had been at a friend’s house on Main Street on Dec. 1, 2024. She said that Glover, whom she knew as “Sam,” was also there, according to the warrant.
While the woman was using the restroom, Glover allegedly took her car keys and license out of her purse. He then took off with her car, a Kia Optima and ignored the woman’s attempts to get in touch with him, according to the woman’s statements to police.
The woman said she saw Glover again on Dec. 3, according to the warrant, and asked for her car back.
“It was during this interaction when ‘Sam’ displayed a black pistol and pointed it at her telling her she was not getting the car back,” the warrant states.
A detective said he recognized Glover from past interactions and knew that “Sam” was a street name he used. Police brought in the victim, who identified Glover in a double-blind photo lineup, according to the warrant.
The alleged crime and investigation took place in December 2024. Glover was arrested in September 2025. Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said the delay was the result of discussions between the department and court officials over the arrest warrant.
Glover was arraigned Sept. 5 in Superior Court in Derby and is due back Oct. 2.
