Anthony F. Marchitto, age 92, peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Shady Knoll Health Care in Seymour. He was the beloved husband of the late Leona “Lee” (Radcliffe) Marchitto.
Tony was born at home in Derby on June 28, 1933, son of the late Giacomo and Minnie (Martone) Marchitto. He resided in Derby until the age of ten, when his parents moved the family to Shelton. Later, he bought land and built his home where he lived until his passing. Tony was drafted by the United States Army during Korea and served from 1950-1953, building fire roads around Pikes Peak in Colorado. He was a self-employed mason contractor in the Valley area for many decades and later changed his specialty to tile and marble work, until his retirement at age 75. Always the life of the party, he enjoyed traveling with friends to play golf or gamble whenever he got the chance. He loved to go out to dinner and go back to his house for shots, beers, and a good cigar. There was never a shortage of stories which the family calls, “Tales of Tony.” He was a former member of Highland Golf Club in Shelton and a member of Sutter-Terlizzi American Legion Post 16 in Shelton. He truly had a life well lived!
He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Lisa Pantaleo (Michael) of Seymour, a grandson, Steven Pantaleo (Lisa) of Seymour, great-granddaughters, Samantha and Jillian Pantaleo and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Marchitto and his nephew, David Marchitto.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 11:00 am, at St. Michael’s Cemetery Chapel, 28 Silver Hill Road in Ansonia. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia has been privileged with the arrangements.
