SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from April 27, 2026 through May 3, 2026.

Seymour police received 264 calls for service and made two arrests between April 27, 2026 and May 3, 2026.

APRIL 27, 2026

9:05 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement for about 30 minutes on Bungay Road. No motor vehicle violations were observed.

9:06 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Clinton Road. No injuries were reported.

12:42 p.m. A caller told police she found a beagle wearing a collar and a leash wandering around the area of Smith Street.

4:33 p.m. Officers assisted Ansonia police with a vehicle involved in a road rage incident.

APRIL 28, 2026

1:22 a.m. An officer found an unconscious man sitting upright on a bench in front of the Strand Theater on Main Street. The man, who the officer said was intoxicated, was at Jimmie’s Place earlier and requested a ride home.  

7:35 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the Seymour High School parking lot on Botsford Road.

10:51 a.m. A caller told police a man was walking on Cogwheel Lane in the Silvermine Industrial Park and appeared to be swinging a sword at passing cars. Police checked the area and said the man was gone upon their arrival.

5 p.m. Police charged a 38-year-old Waterbury man with risk of injury to a child, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault.

7:10 p.m. Police charged a 38-year-old Seymour woman with interfering with an officer and resisting arrest.

APRIL 29, 2026  

9:59 a.m. A caller told police a dog was roaming and barking overnight on Shari Drive.

2:16 p.m. A Derby Avenue resident told police his car was vandalized.

8:36 p.m. A caller complained about noise coming from the Citizens Engine Co. fire house on DeForest Street. Police said the department was conducting training and there were no issues.

8:41 p.m. A caller told police high school students were playing a “senior assassin” game and were going door to door on Middle Benham and High Ridge roads asking residents for items. Police said the students were gone upon their arrival.

APRIL 30, 2026

7:56 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Old Ansonia Road for about 25 minutes. No motor vehicle violations were observed.

9:16 a.m. A caller told police a truck knocked down some cable wires on West Church Street.

1:05 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from Chatfield-LoPresti School. The school security officer told police the call was accidental.

4:21 p.m. An Amber Drive resident requested an officer to assist in an ongoing dispute with her neighbor.

9:37 p.m. Police were called to a residence on Reservoir Drive for a medical emergency.

11:52 p.m. Police responded to Trinity Church on West Street for a report of an alarm sounding. An officer said the cleaning crew tripped the alarm and there were no issues.

MAY 1, 2026

8:04 a.m. A Hill Street resident reported a lost/stolen license plate.

9:33 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement for about 30 minutes at Bungay Road/Greenwood Circle and made one motor vehicle stop.

9:01 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at Derby Avenue and Cedar Street. No injuries were reported.

10:15 p.m. Police were called to a medical emergency on Maple Street.

MAY 2, 2026

8:43 a.m. A caller told police someone took her vehicle without her permission and was demanding $600 to get the vehicle back.

9:41 a.m. A caller told police an older woman was approaching people in the Seybridge Plaza parking lot and was unsure if the woman was asking for money or needed assistance. Police said the woman was gone upon their arrival.

12:40 p.m. A Church Street resident told police two large pool water trucks were blocking the road.

5:24 p.m. Police received numerous phone calls from residents complaining that several vehicles were parked along Canfield and Botsford roads, making the road barely passable. An officer spoke with the homeowner about the vehicles and said there were no further issues.

11:23 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot on Bank Street. Police said the car was gone upon their arrival.  

MAY 3, 2026

7:56 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement for about 40 minutes on Great Hill Road and made two motor vehicle stops.

9:56 a.m. A Walnut Street Ext. resident reported that some construction equipment had been vandalized.

2:20 p.m. A caller told police there was a sick raccoon in the middle of the road on Broadview Avenue. An officer was sent to dispatch the animal.

5:37 p.m. A caller told police there was a bag of garbage in the middle of the road on New Haven Road (Route 67) causing drivers to swerve. Police said the bag was removed and there were no further issues.

9:37 p.m. An officer reported a suspicious vehicle at a gas station on New Haven Road (Route 67) after hours. The officer informed the driver that the gas station was closed and the driver left without incident.
