SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from May 4, 2026 through May 10, 2026.

Seymour police received 242 calls for service and made five arrests between May 4, 2026 and May 10, 2026.

MAY 4, 2026

8:32 a.m. A caller told police there was a sick raccoon under a trailer in the Silvermine Industrial Park. Police dispatched the raccoon.

12:01 p.m. A caller told police someone with a truck and a ladder was working in the road near  Maple Street, Warren Drive and Old Ansonia Road without a police officer or traffic cones and was causing a hazardous situation. An officer checked the situation and said the man was done working for the day.

4:55 p.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Bungay Road.

8:57 p.m. The animal control officer told police someone with red and pink streaks in her hair driving a red Toyota Corolla dumped a cat on Rimmon Road.    

MAY 5, 2026

10:20 a.m. A Sagamore Drive resident reported his catalytic converter was stolen.

10:36 a.m. A caller told police she found a credit card at Chatfield Park.

11:57 a.m. A caller told police a vehicle was taking up two handicapped parking spaces at CVS on Bank Street without a visible permit.

11:07 p.m. Police charged a 40-year-old Bridgeport man on with disorderly conduct on Pearl Street.

MAY 6, 2026  

2:19 p.m. Police responded to a residence on Beach Street for a medical emergency.

2:21 p.m. A Frank Court resident told police the rear window of her vehicle was smashed sometime overnight.

3:56 p.m. Police conducted speed enforcement on Bungay Road.

4:32 p.m. A Pershing Avenue resident told police he has been receiving threatening/harassing phone calls.

8:17 p.m. Police were called to Newport Healthcare facility on Roosevelt Drive for a report of a 17-year-old patient acting aggressively toward staff. The patient was transported to the hospital.

MAY 7, 2026

1:17 p.m. A DeForest Street resident told police someone keyed her car.

2:18 p.m. Police responded to scene of a motor vehicle accident on Roosevelt Drive. No injuries were reported.

2:59 p.m. An Elmwood Drive resident told police her dog was bitten by a pitbull in front of her house. Animal control was notified.

3:12 p.m. A caller told police she heard a noise that sounded like gunshots in her backyard near Mangione Construction on North Main Street. Police said the report was unfounded.

MAY 8, 2026

7:58 a.m. An employee with All-Star bus transportation told police she was receiving harassing phone calls from a parent.

8:53 a.m. Police assisted a driver whose car became disabled on Great Hill Road.

10:36 a.m. Police conducted speed enforcement at West Church Street and Bungay Road for about 30 minutes. No motor vehicle violations were observed.

11:35 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident near Broad and River streets.

2:53 p.m. A caller told police a large tree was down and blocking Squantuck Road.  

MAY 9, 2026

2:35 a.m. Police charged Devin Brainard, 23, of Stratford, with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane. He was arrested on Pearl Street.

9:37 a.m. The animal control officer notified police about a sick opossum that was possibly hit by a car near Botsford and Brookfield roads.

10:49 a.m. A Day Street resident told police she has been receiving threatening phone calls.

3:25 p.m. Police were called to a residence on Reservoir Manor for a medical emergency.

MAY 10, 2026

3 a.m. Police charged Latasha Shaw, 39, of Waterbury, with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper. She was arrested on Route 8.

7:50 a.m. A Bungay Road resident told police there was an injured skunk in her front yard. An officer responded to dispatch the skunk.

8:49 a.m. A South Main Street resident told police a car alarm was going off in the area for about two hours.

12:47 p.m. A caller told police a driver in a white Nissan was stopped at the traffic light at New Haven Road (Route 67) and North Street and was slumped over the wheel. Police said the driver was gone upon their arrival.

6:08 p.m. A caller told police she found a black lab mix in the woods off Haddad Road and she took the dog to her home in Woodbridge. The animal control officer was notified.
