t is with very heavy hearts that we have to say goodbye to Estelle “Babe” (Pawlak) Maziuk, age 95, who entered eternal rest on June 30, 2026, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony T. Maziuk.

Born at home in Ansonia on March 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frank Pawlak Sr. and Stella (Kaiser) Pawlak. Estelle was raised in Ansonia where she lived for most of her life until moving to Naugatuck for the past ten years. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Grammar School in Ansonia, Ansonia High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Waterbury. Estelle had a dedicated and selfless career as a Registered Nurse. She was employed at Griffin Hospital in Derby then later at Derby Nursing Home and ultimately retired from Hewitt Health Care Center in Shelton. She was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Ansonia and a member of its women’s guild. Estelle enjoyed playing cards with friends and relatives, trying her luck at the casino and cooking. Her favorite hobby was crocheting and she found great joy in sharing her creations with others. Estelle’s true love was spending time with her precious grandchildren. She truly exemplified what it meant to be a matriarch. Her amazing dry sense of humor, bright smile and blue eyes will be sorely missed but will live on in her family. She is now back together with her beloved late husband, Anthony. The beautiful family they built together is testament of their true love and commitment.

Estelle leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Thomas Maziuk of Derby, William Maziuk of Watertown and Bob Maziuk (Christine) of Naugatuck, daughter, Lauren Ciccone (Enzo) of Naugatuck, sister, Victoria Lally of Ansonia, grandchildren, Joncarlo Ciccone (Nichole), Stefano Ciccone (Jamie), Ashlee Trelli (Joe), Tucker Maziuk, Ryan Maziuk (Alicia), Sean Maziuk and Kyle Maziuk, great granddaughters, Giuliana and Isabella Ciccone along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Pawlak Jr., her dear friend and sister-in-law, Marjorie Pawlak, sister, Edith Commune, and several nieces and nephews.
