Brian M. Georgia, age 69 of Shelton, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 17, 2026 following a difficult and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. At his side during his final moments was his loving niece, “Miss Jenna.”
Brian was born in Derby on June 10, 1957, son of the late Louis and Julie Kyle Georgia. For the last 20 years of his remarkable life, his sister, Julie Ficano, was his primary caregiver. She advocated fiercely to provide the best medical care and quality of life as his disease inevitably progressed.
Brian fought MS as hard as he would fight any opponent in baseball, tennis, or racquetball. Brian eagerly volunteered for any and every clinical trial that he could participate in to not only prolong and better the quality of life for himself, but also for the countless others battling this same debilitating and progressive disease.
Brian was a graduate of the Shelton High School class of 1975. He was always passionate and dedicated to his career throughout his life. Brian began to work as a child alongside his many siblings, cousin Reverend Monsignor John Georgia, parents, and grandparents at their family business.
The family business, Kyle’s Stationery, Inc., was a landmark and community gathering place of downtown Shelton and the surrounding areas for decades. Following two decades of working as a successful sales representative, he pursued his dream of owning a business and became the co-founder of Fascomp, Inc. alongside his brother Mark.
Brian was a pioneer of the commercial internet long before computers became a household item. Brian founded, “Bookie’s Hell,” which was one of the first online sports betting forums in the early 1990s. What originally started as a crude, early internet-era text-based website described as “raw and unfiltered,” designed to exchange information, discuss lines and strategies, recommend sportsbooks, and to call out scams, developed into Bettor’s World (co-founded by Jeff Brown).
Bettor’s World became one of the first, and for a time, the most popular sports betting portals, forums, and watchdog sites on the internet boasting a prominent feature in the New York Times.
Prior to his business ventures with his brother Mark, they were dedicated athletes.
Before any talks of starting a company, they spent many years as teammates on the Shelton High School baseball team, various softball teams, as well as tennis partners and rivals leading to various faceoffs on the court. Brian had frequent success as an athlete including being a proud member of the Shelton High School baseball team that won the 1974 State Championship.
When Brian wasn’t playing on the court or field, he was loyally cheering on his favorite teams and players: the Baltimore Orioles, the Green Bay Packers, and most importantly his nephew Kyle on the pitcher’s mound. He also proudly devoted his free time coaching in the Little League. Eventually he brought his team, the Watertown Orioles, and won the North Atlantic Regional Championship and secured their place in the Little League World Series of 1998.
His life and memory continues with his dearly beloved son and light of his life, Brian M. Georgia Jr., as well as his siblings Julie Ficano, Paul Georgia, and Johanna Georgia. He also leaves behind his nieces, Jenna Ficano, Ashley Scagliarini, his nephew Kyle Georgia, several cherished cousins, and former wife Susan Georgia Gianni and husband Gary Gianni. As his journey continues, he now joins his brothers Louis, Robert, David, and Mark as they joyfully reunite.

Of all the staff, they would like to especially highlight the exceptional love and care provided by Marcia, Kiesha, Erica, Tamayo, Susie, and Nancy to both Brian and the family during the most difficult time of his life.
We would like to welcome all friends to greet the Georgia family on Friday, August 21st, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Riverview Funeral Home (390 River Rd., Shelton). On Saturday, friends are invited to join the family at St. Joseph’s Church (50 Fairmont Pl., Shelton) for his Mass of Christian Burial starting at 9:00 A.M. The burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made through Riverview Funeral Home to Brian’s son, Brian M. Georgia Jr., to help ensure his ability to pursue his life-long aspirations and goals.
