Registration opens Oct. 1 for Fall Session of Nature’s Explorers
Thursdays from 10-11 a.m. for four weeks: Oct. 22 & 29, and Nov. 5 & 12
FEE: $40 per child, paid in advance
Join us for Nature’s Explorers, a 4-week program for children 2–4 years old with their adult Explorer. These classes are loosely structured and influenced by the seasons. We will explore nature outside every week, so please be dressed for the weather. Children should wear clothes that they can play and get dirty in. Each class will end with a light snack..
Bats in Our Backyard
Friday, Oct. 2 @ 7pm
Come and learn about the less-seen, yet vitally important bats that call our backyards “home”.
Join us for a special evening featuring some of the Nature Center’s less-seen animal ambassadors — our big brown bats! Learn about the different species of bats found in Connecticut, where they live, what they eat, and the important role they play in our ecosystems. After the presentation, we will take a walk around our pond around our grounds to see if we can spot any wild bats! FREE for all ages
Full Harvest Moon Hike
Saturday, Oct. 3 @ 9:30 a.m.
Join us for an introduction to the Deerfield Lane Learning Garden, the Nature Center’s new native plant teaching garden. We’ll begin with a short presentation about why the garden was created, what we hope visitors will learn from it, and how native plants can help support pollinators and wildlife. We’ll then head outside for a walk through the garden and discuss ways you can create a similar habitat in your own yard. Free! Registration required
Deerfield Lane Learning Garden: Fall Volunteer Days
Tuesday, Oct. 6 and 13 @ 9:30 a.m.
Come help us put our garden to bed for the winter, and learn valuable skills about home gardening. Volunteers will help with seasonal garden cleanup, mulching, and other preparations to protect our plants and prepare the garden for the coming growing season. All experience levels welcome! Bring gloves, water, and dress for the weather. Registration encouraged.
Ansonia Nature Center Autumn Festival
Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Free admission! Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center invites you to their annual Autumn Festival. Attractions include food trucks, pumpkin painting, face painting, raffles, animal shows, free children’s games, and much more!
New Haven Bird Blub presents: Autumn Bird Walk at ANC
Saturday, Oct. 24 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Join Ranger Evelyn and New Haven Bird Club’s Kelly Meineke and explore the varied habitats of the Ansonia Nature Center: a pond, grassy fields, thickets, wetlands, and woods. In late October we can expect numerous sparrow species, raptors, and woodpeckers, along with migrating songbirds, including some warblers.

Special Creature Feature: Going Batty!
Saturday, Oct. 10 @ 12 p.m.
Bats take center stage for this special Creature Feature! Meet our bat ambassadors up close* and learn more about these fascinating nighttime hunters, their unique adaptations, and their important role in Connecticut ecosystems. FREE!
*No, visitors will not be able to pet or hold the bats. They are not pets! It would be a VERY bad idea!
Fall Classic Cruise
Sundays (except Oct. 11) from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The Four Seasons Classic Car Club invites you to experience a classic Sunday morning tradition.
Join fellow automobile enthusiasts each Sunday this fall for Fall Classic – Cars & Coffee, a gathering celebrating classic automobiles, community, and conservation. Whether you own a meticulously restored antique, a muscle car, or enjoy admiring automotive history, everyone is welcome. Enjoy fresh coffee and pastries available for purchase from Ansonia-based Gr8Coffee as you meet fellow enthusiasts, share stories, take in the vibrant New England fall foliage, and enjoy one of Connecticut’s most scenic settings for a morning cruise.
Each week will also feature a 50/50 raffle benefiting the restoration of Pavilion One, helping support environmental education and community programming at the Ansonia Nature Center.
There are no entry fees, spectators are always welcome, and respectful behavior ensures a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere for everyone.
