John Francis Marszalek, age 73, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, October 26, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of 30 years to Michelle (Martone) Marszalek.

John was born in Bridgeport on May 31, 1953, son of the late John Bernard and Katherine (Koztowska) Marszalek. A longtime Shelton resident, he was known for his hardworking nature, generous spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed him.

John worked as a truck driver for many years with American Frozen Foods before joining the Town of Shelton, where he worked at the Transfer Station for 15 years. He was someone who enjoyed keeping busy, whether he was fixing something around the house, tinkering in the garage, or figuring out how to make something work again. Family and friends knew they could always count on him for a helping hand, or a tool from his garage.

John loved talking about sports, enjoying a good hot dog, a plate of wings, and a cold beer. He especially cherished Sundays spent around the table with family, enjoying homemade Sunday Sauce, sharing stories, laughter, and the simple moments that meant the most to him.

More than anything, John cherished his family, especially his grandson, Ryan Sheehy, who was the light of his life. He was Ryan’s biggest fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer him on, especially at his baseball games. He took great pride in watching Ryan grow and celebrating all of his accomplishments. The time they shared together meant the world to him and brought him endless joy.

He is survived by his daughters, Jenise Esteves and Damaris Marszalek; his cherished grandsons, Ryan Sheehy and Meyers Marszalek; his brother, Benjamin Marszalek; his sister, Jennie Fazekas; and many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

His funeral service will be private. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, is entrusted with the arrangements.
