Ansonia Police: Duo Robbed Store At Gunpoint

ANSONIA — Police are looking for two men who robbed a store at gunpoint Wednesday (Oct. 14).

Police said the pair walked into the Wakelee Mart at 192 Wakelee Ave. with handguns at 10:35 p.m. and demanded an employee empty the cash register. Several hundred dollars were stolen.

The robbery turned violent when one of the suspects hit the employee in the head. The employee declined medical attention.

The only description was that both men were Black and over six-feet tall. One suspect was described as heavy set. The other was slender.

The suspect with the slender build was wearing all black with a black face mask; the heavy-set suspect was wearing a dark blue sweatshirt and grey sweatpants wearing a black face mask,” Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a prepared statement.

The suspects were last seen running down Pork Hollow Road, where they got into a silver-colored SUV and left.
