Bank Robbery In Shelton

Photo: Ethan FryTwo men robbed the Wells Fargo Bank at 320 Coram Ave. in downtown Shelton at gunpoint Tuesday (Dec. 10) morning before fleeing on foot, according to police.

In a prepared statement issued Tuesday morning, police said they were called to the bank about 9:30 a.m. on a report of a robbery.

Patrol officers and detectives remained at the bank for hours Tuesday processing the scene.

Shelton Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said in the statement that police believe two male suspects perpetrated the robbery and then fled the scene on foot with an undetermined amount of money.

A weapon was displayed during the robbery, but not used, Kozlowsky said.

According to police radio transmissions, the suspects were described as a black male over 6 feet tall wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the drawstrings pulled tight to cover his face, and a shorter black man wearing a gray sweatshirt.

Surveillance photos of the robbery released by police are below. Article continues after the photos.

Radio transmissions also indicated police are probing whether the stick-up was similar to the robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in Prospect last month.

Police asked that anyone with information about the heist call the Shelton Police Detective Bureau at 203 – 924-1544, Ext. 330.

Calls will be confidential and there is a financial reward for information leading to the arrest in this case,” police said in a statement.

The bank property was marked off with crime scene tape Tuesday morning about an hour after the robbery.

Many police officers were on scene, as was a police dog from Monroe, which officers followed from in front of the bank up Coram Avenue and then east on Cornell Street to its intersection with Howe Avenue before turning back.

Officers on scene did not offer any additional details about the heist.
