Dems Endorse Liscinsky For 122nd District

The Democratic Town Committee of Shelton, at a convention held with delegates from Shelton, Stratford, and Trumbull, unanimously announced their support for Arlene Liscinsky (D) as a candidate for the Connecticut State Representative for the 122nd District. 

Arlene is a strong candidate who has dedicated many years of her life to serving others and making a difference in her community,” said David Gioiello from the Democratic Town Committee. Arlene’s representation in the State legislature will ensure that all thoughts and opinions of the constituents within her district will be heard at the state level.” 

Arlene is most well-known for her more than 20 years of service and advocacy on behalf of the children and school system within Shelton. She has served locally and statewide as a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) representative, and as a Board of Education (BOE) member for 13 years.

In addition to serving as a board member, she also presently serves as Secretary and Finance Chair of the board, and is a member of the Ad hoc Full Day Kindergarten Committee. 

She previously served as Acting Chair of the board, and sat on numerous committees. For the last five years, Arlene has held the role of President of Cooperative Educational Services (C.E.S), representing Shelton on the Fairfield County Regional Educational Service Center.(C.E.S.)

Arlene has been a resident of Shelton for 24 years, and prior to that lived in Stratford for 12 years. As a long-time resident, she is aware of the issues affecting residents in these communities. 

Arlene has been involved in various community organizations including the League of Women Voters, the Shelton Youth Service Bureau, School Readiness Committee, Valley Chamber of Commerce, Shelton Historical Society, Parent Child Resource Center, and the Connecticut Package Store Association. She is also a member of the Democratic Town and Nutmeg PTA statewide Committees. 

Arlene is committed to improving education for children across Connecticut and will work to increase state funding for special education.

Other state issues important to Arlene include the prevention of additional tolls to Connecticut roads, preserving the environment, and holding state government for being more responsive to the needs of small businesses.

As a former business owner, she understands the challenges that small business owner’s face when complying to meet state business requirements. 

Arlene ran against Mr. Miller for the position of Representative for the 122nd District in 2002 and narrowly lost to him in Shelton. 

Arlene is married to Joseph Liscinsky Jr. and has two daughters, Kate, 29, and Erin, 27, who both attended and graduated from the Shelton Public School System.

Arlene was born in New York City where she lived until the age of 8. She was raised and attended school in Danbury. Arlene also has an Associates Degree in Marketing from Norwalk Community College.
