Shelton Bank Robbery Suspect Gets 12-Year Offer

A Shelton man accused of robbing a Bridgeport Avenue bank in December was offered a plea deal May 20 that would see him serve 12 years behind bars.

Michael Magliocco, 27, has been behind bars since his arrest hours after police say he held up the Webster Bank at 375 Bridgeport Ave. about 10 a.m. Dec. 30.

Police say Magliocco entered the bank and handed a note to a teller demanding money.

The teller then handed over an unspecified amount of cash. There were no injuries.

Shelton cops alerted the media with a surveillance photo taken during the robbery, and subsequently received several calls identifying Magliocco as the robbery suspect.

Cops didn’t have to go far to track down Magliocco — police said he was located at a condo complex next to the bank property about four hours after the heist.

He was charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny, and second-degree breach of peace.

At Superior Court in Milford Tuesday, State’s Attorney Kevin Lawlor offered Magliocco a plea deal that calls for a 20-year prison sentence to be suspended after 12 years, to be followed by five years of probation, in exchange for Magliocco pleading guilty to a charge of first-degree robbery in the case.

Lawlor noted that Magliocco also faces up to six years behind bars in connection with a probation violation out of Bridgeport.

In that case, he was convicted of using an air pistol to rob a woman as she left a bank.

Magliocco will return to Superior Court at Milford June 5. He is being held in lieu of $300,000 in bonds.
