Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.
On 10/09/18 at 9:47 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #43 Maple Lane for a public service call; lockout. An engine responded.
On 10/09/18 at 5:18 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #33 Windflower Lane after a large tree fell on a home. The tree crushed a portion of the home causing it to be unlivable. An engine, two rescue pumpers and a ladder truck responded.
On 10/09/18 at 8:31 pm the White Hills Co. #5, Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #15 Rodia Ridge Road for a house fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a two-car attached garage on a home engulfed in fire. The fire spread from the garage up the side of the house and into a second floor room and the attic space before being brought under control. The garage sustained extensive fire damage as did the attic area. The entire home sustained smoke damage. Three vehicles were destroyed in the fire. Three engines, two rescue pumpers and a ladder truck responded.
On 10/10/18 at 02:11 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to the Shelton Intermediate School for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.
On 10/10/18 at 6:32 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #6 Armstrong Road for a fire alarm activation. Upon arrival firefighters found hydraulic pump oil for an elevator had been burning causing a smoke condition. An engine responded and a ladder truck responded.
On 10/10/18 at 9:49 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #28 Elderberry Lane for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.
On 10/10/18 at 10:45 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #131 Morningside Court for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.
On 10/10/18 at 4:09 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Ripton Housing Complex at #423 Howe Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.
On 10/10/18 at 11:14 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #6 Sterling Ridge for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.
On 10/10/18 at 4:38 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the area of #90 Hill Street for a motor vehicle accident. An engine responded.
On 10/10/18 at 5:37 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to Route 8 south between exits 14 and 13 for a motor vehicle accident. Two engines and a rescue pumper responded.
On 10/11/18 at 6:09 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #3 Cameo Drive for an activated fire alarm. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded and a ladder truck responded.
On 10/11/18 at 6:31 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to Cali Drive for an electrical hazard; tree onto power lines and power lines down. An engine responded.
On 10/11/18 at 7:20 the Huntington Co. #3 responded to Mohegan Road near Moose Hill Road for a motor vehicle accident. There was no accident. A disabled vehicle was mistaken for an accident. An engine responded.
On 10/12/18 at 05:18 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #40 Waterview Drive for a fire alarm activation in a commercial building. There was no fire. An engine responded and a ladder truck responded.
On 10/12/18 at 10:12 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to Waverly Road near Belle Lane for an electrical hazard; wires down in the road. An engine responded.
On 10/12/18 at 11:19 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to Ripton Road near Quaker Ridge Road for an electrical hazard; wires down in the road. An engine responded.
On 10/12/18 at 12:48 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #11 Doe Place for an odor of smoke in the house. There was no fire. The smoke was caused by a malfunction with an air compressor. An engine and a rescue pumper responded.
On 10/12/18 at 4:21 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #45 Bridgeport Avenue for a public service call; pumpout. An engine responded.
On 10/12/18 at 4:24 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the Wicke Health Care Center at #584 Long Hill Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.
On 10/12/18 at 6:24 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to the area of #101 Mohegan Road for a motor vehicle accident.
On 10/13/18 at 01:20 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex at #187 Meadow Street for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. A rescue pumper and a ladder truck responded.
On 10/13/18 at 10:09 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on River Road near Long Hill Avenue. An engine and a rescue pumper responded.
On 10/13/18 at 1:51 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #10 Bronson Drive for a fire that had occurred. An engine responded and a ladder truck responded.
