Shelton Fire Department Weekly Calls

Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.

On 11/26/18 at 3:12 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Conti Realty at #415 Howe Avenue for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. An engine and a rescue pumper responded.

On 11/26/18 at 7:41 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to Bridgeport Avenue and Trap Falls Road for a motor vehicle accident. An engine responded.

On 11/26/18 at 8:40 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #1 Providence Avenue for a public service call. A rescue pumper responded.

On 11/27/18 at 6:41 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Conti Realty at #415 Howe Avenue for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Steam leaking from a vent heat pipe caused the alarm. A unit responded.

On 11/27/18 at 7:22 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Conti Realty at #415 Howe Avenue for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Steam leaking from a vent heat pipe caused the alarm. A unit responded.

On 11/27/18 at 5:12 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #45 Woonsocket Avenue for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. A rescue pumper responded.

On 11/27/18 at 9:26 pm Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #8 Kingswood Manor for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. A rescue pumper responded.

On 11/28/18 at 01:38 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Route 8 north near exit 14 for a motor vehicle accident. An engine and two rescue trucks responded.

On 11/28/18 at 9:01 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Spooner House at #30 Todd Road for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. A rescue pumper and a ladder truck responded.

On 11/28/18 at 9:56 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to #52 Summerfield Gardens for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. A rescue pumper and a utility truck responded.

On 11/29/18 at 00:29 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #110 Aspetuck Trail for a fire alarm activation. No further information was reported. 

On 11/29/18 at 12:32 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Walmart at #465 Bridgeport Avenue for a public service call; lockout. A rescue pumper responded.

On 11/29/18 at 5:18 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to Sikorsky Building at #1 Far Mill Crossing for an odor of smoke in the building. The cause of the incident was not reported. Two engines, a rescue pumper and a ladder truck responded. Nichols, Monroe and Derby covered Shelton during the call.

On 11/29/18 at 6:50 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the area of #56 Birdseye Road for a motor vehicle accident. An engine and a ladder truck responded. 

On 11/29/18 at 8:00 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to Route 8 south at exit 13 for a motor vehicle accident. An engine and two rescue trucks responded.

On 11/30/18 at 8:31 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #11 Stonegate Lane for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. A unit responded.

On 11/30/18 at 10:32 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #2 Naugatuck Avenue for an electrical hazard, wires fell onto a parked vehicle. Firefighters found the wire was a tv cable line which was removed from the vehicle. A unit responded.

On 11/30/18 at 7:05 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the Riverwalk Park on Canal Street to assist Ems with a patient. An engine responded.

On 12/01/18 at 03:18 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #53 Maler Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 12/01/18 at 7:42 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to Route 8 north at exit 14 for a motor vehicle accident. An engine responded.

On 12/01/18 at 12:20 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #14 High Meadow Road for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine and a ladder truck responded. 

On 12/01/18 at 2:11 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Ripton Housing Building at #423 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine and a ladder truck responded. 

On 12/01/18 at 8:53 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the area of Booth Hill Road and Wheeler Road for an odor og natural gas. Nothing was found by firefighters. An engine and a ladder truck responded. 

On 12/02/18 at 5:16 am the Echo Hose Co. #1, White Hills Co. #5 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Silence is Golden Tattoo Parlor for smoke in the building. Firefighters found a fire had occurred in the front doorway of the occupancy. The fire was out upon arrival of fire units. The Fire marshal’s Office and the Shelton Police are investigating the cause of the fire. An engine and two ladder trucks responded.

On 12/02/18 at 5:19 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to U‑Haul at #583 Howe Avenue for an odor of natural gas in the area. Nothing was found by firefighters. A rescue pumper responded.

On 12/02/18 at 8:15 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to the area of #408 Leavenworth Road for a motor vehicle accident. An engine and a ladder truck responded.
