Shelton Fire Department Weekly Calls Stats

The Shelton Fire Department responded to the following calls for service during the week.

This week’s list includes the cause and origin of a house fire from Sunday.

The list was compiled and submitted by Shelton Fire Marshal James Totora.

On 01/28/19 at 3:29 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to route 8 north bound near exit 12 for a motor vehicle accident. An engine and a rescue engine responded.

On 01/29/19 at 12:24 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to #2 Meghan Lane for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 01/29/18 at 10:25 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded #58 Country Place Condominiums for an odor of natural gas in the home. An engine, a ladder truck and the tower truck responded.

On 01/30/19 at 10:14 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #190 Huntington Street for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 01/30/19 at 6:18 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #6 Weybossett Street for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. The tower truck responded.

On 01/31/19 at 11:59 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Ripton Housing Complex at #423 Howe Avenue for several people stuck in an elevator. The occupants were freed shortly after the arrival of firefighters. A rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.

On 01/31/19 at 2:36 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to #6 Bayberry Lane for a public service call; pump out. An engine responded.

On 01/31/19 at 6:06 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded #212 Prospect Street for an odor of gasoline in the building. Firefighters found a minibike stored on a porch was leaking the gas. An engine, a rescue truck pumper and a utility truck responded.

On 01/31/19 at 11:47 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the area of #300 Nichols Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 02/01/19 at 9:35 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to Comcast at #216 Huntington Street for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 02/01/19 at 10:30 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #46 Wigwam Drive for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 02/01/19 at 5:34 pm the White Hills Co. #5 Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #237 Lenore Drive for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded.

On 02/01/19 at 11:13 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #202 Buddington Road for a fuel oil spill in the basement. An engine responded.

On 02/02/19 at 11:16 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #39 Lynne Terrace for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. An engine responded.

On 02/02/19 at 6:51 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Cumberland Farms Food Store at #819 Long Hill Avenue for an odor in the building. Firefighters found an electrical outlet burnt out caused the odor. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 02/03/19 at 00:32 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to#17 Woodland Park for a public service call; water pipe broke in the home. An engine responded.

On 02/03/19 at 00:58 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded the Helen DeVaux Housing Complex at #91 Howe Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded.

On 02/03/19 at 9:06 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #50 Waverly Terrace for a structure fire. 

Upon arrival firefighters found smoke coming from a single family two story wood frame house. Firefighters entered and extinguished a fire in a first floor bedroom. 

The home sustained extensive smoke damage as a result of the fire. The occupants of the home safely evacuated prior to fire units arrival. There were no injuries. 

The Fire Marshal’s Office determined that a discarded cigarette ignited a mattress in the bedroom where the fire originated. 

About 30 firefighters responded. 

Three engines, a ladder truck and a rescue truck responded. Shelton EMS also responded.
