Shelton Man Pleads Guilty To Bank Robbery

A Shelton man pleaded guilty Monday to a bank robbery charge in connection to stick-ups at four banks in southwest Connecticut last year.

Scott Taylor, 47, took the plea deal in Hartford federal court.

In a prepared statement, U.S. Attorney Deirdre M. Daly said the robberies all targeted branches of Chase Bank:

  • June 2, 184 Main St., Westport
  • June 24, 1561 Boston Post Road, Milford
  • July 6, 50 Washington Street, Norwalk
  • July 13, 1855 Main St., Stratford

During each of the robberies, Taylor handed a teller a note demanding cash, and told the teller that he had a gun,” Daly said.

Taylor stole about $24,000 during the stick-ups, Daly said.

He was arrested at the Stratford train station soon after the July 13 robbery with $998 cash and 33 folds of heroin on him. He has been behind bars since.

He is scheduled to be sentenced May 3 before U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford.

He faces up to 20 years in prison, but Daly said the plea deal calls for a recommendation of 188 months — roughly 15 and a half years.
