Don’t try to go down Wooster Street between Howe Avenue and Canal Street today. It’s closed.
And it could be that way for a while.
The state Department of Transportation wants the city to rebuild the crossing on the street as part of a proposed residential and commercial development in the area. It’s not clear when the road will be reopened.
The Shelton Police Department’s traffic division has set up signs to warn drivers of the closure, and there will be barriers and fences installed. The division asks drivers to plan other routes to avoid that small section of Wooster Street. For more information, call the traffic division at (203) 924‑1544.
