Calling Hours, Community Vigil Scheduled For Seymour’s Nina Poeta

On Monday night, Poeta Strong,” a Facebook group organized by friends of the Poeta family of Seymour, posted services for Nina Poeta, the 17-year-old Seymour High School student who died Sunday after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

On Tuesday morning, Seymour schools sent out word about a Walk of Light” vigil in honor of the young woman.

According to Poeta Strong, calling hours are scheduled for 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at Holy Rosary Church, Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at Holy Rosary.

A vigil for Nina is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the football field at Seymour High School.

Seymour High School will be hosting a Walk of Light Vigil” for Seymour High School student Nina Poeta who recently lost her courageous battle against cancer this week. The vigil will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 pm.. on the John T. DeBarber football field at Seymour High School located at 2 Botsford Road, Seymour.

Any and all members of the community who would like to participate in this vigil to honor this courageous young girl are welcome to attend. 

Come out to support our community and the Poeta family during these tough times. Please bring a flashlight or glow stick with you which we will use to light up the night with her spirit.

Nina will be remembered fondly as a student who has an unquenchable spirit who will be forever with us. Our community will be Nina Poeta Strong Forever.”
