DERBY — Someone burglarized an unlocked vehicle parked at Derby City Hall Tuesday, according to a post on Mayor Rich Dziekan’s Facebook page.
The incident happened at 1:20 p.m.
Andrew Baklik, the mayor’s chief of staff, was looking out the window from City Hall and watched the crime happen, according to the post.
Baklik called police and gave a detailed description of the suspect, who was arrested a short time later.
“The employee got his belongings back within an hour of them being stolen,” according to the post.
The suspect was identified as Christian Giles, 19, of Bridgeport. He was charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny, according to police. He’s due in court Aug. 1.
