Shelton police are investigating a hit-and-run that put a cyclist in the hospital.
Police did not release the rider’s name or condition.
Police said in a prepared statement that they received 911 calls Friday at 10 p.m. reporting “an accident with injuries between a vehicle and a bicyclist.”
It happened at the busy intersection of Howe Avenue and Bridge Street.
The victim was a 49-year-old bicycle rider from Milford.
“Witnesses reported that the bicyclist was struck by a black vehicle which was traveling south on Howe (Avenue),” police said. “Witnesses reported that the vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene over the Derby-Shelton bridge.”
