A Shelton police officer sustained minor injuries early Sunday after a crash on Bridgeport Avenue.

According to a prepared statement from Shelton Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky, the accident occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 14) at the intersection of Bridgeport Avenue and Nells Rock Road.

The initial investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling from Platt Road through the intersection of Bridgeport Avenue when it collided with a Shelton police vehicle which was traveling northbound on Bridgeport Avenue,” Kozlowsky said.

Officer Cathi Schneider was driving the police car, Kozlowsky said.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Kozlowsky said.

Both drivers were alert and conscious at the scene, he said, and Officer Scheider was subsequently treated and released.

The accident is currently under investigation and no enforcement action has been taken at this time,” Kozlowsky said.
