Police Issue Warning After Man Spotted On Resident’s Porch

Ansonia police used social media on Saturday to remind residents to keep their windows and doors locked.

The advice comes after a Hawley Drive resident called police after seeing a man on the back porch of her house at 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

The male fled from the rear porch when the female saw him,” according to a statement posted on the department’s Facebook page.

The incident Saturday happened three days after similar crimes Wednesday, when three burglaries in the city’s Hilltop area.

Police said a burglar entered a home on Reservoir Drive but was frightened away by a resident. Police also reported an attempted burglary at another Reservoir Drive home, as well as a third burglary at a home on Pin Oak Lane.

Those crimes happened between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.

We are asking that people please pay close attention to their homes and report any suspicious activity,” police said Saturday.

Call 911 if you see anyone or anything suspicious on your property.
