Luigi Battaglino, age 83, a longtime Derby resident, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday March 24, 2026 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of 58 wonderful years to Maria (Coppola) Battaglino. He was born in Puglianello, Italy on March 24, 1943 the son of the late Pietro and Gelsomina (Guerra) Battaglino.
He spent his working career as a Machinist at Sikorsky Aircraft for many years before his retirement. Luigi loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed his time outside in the garden. He was a fantastic cook and also had a knack for wine making. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Besides his wife, Luigi is survived by his daughters Mina Paolino (Michael) and Theresa Worby (Nicholas Multari), grandchildren Avery, Matthew and Brianna Battaglino, John Paolino (Nayara), Teresa Paolino, Christian Franklin and Nicholas Multari, his brother Egidio Battaglino as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Louis Battaglino and his brothers Antonio and Mario Battaglino.
The family would like to thank Luigi’s caregivers Anna, Kristen and Tamara for their care and compassion.
Luigi’s funeral services were privately held with his immediate family present. His arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby.
