Shelton Cops Charge Two With Burglarizing Home

Alert Shelton residents, cops, and a police dog joined forces Tuesday to nab two men police say broke into a home on Waverly Terrace.

Police said they received several calls about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday regarding a suspicious vehicle driving around Waverly Road and Sorghum Road.

The callers stated that two men would park their vehicle and knock on doors apparently checking to determine if anyone was home,” Shelton Police Detective Richard Bango said in a prepared statement.

Officers dispatched to the area located the vehicle several times but the vehicle fled each time a stop was attempted,” Bango said.

Cops found the car again on September Lane hidden behind a home, from where a witness told cops the two men had fled on foot.

Officers found the men — Emanuel Ranger, 23, and Allen Young, 20 — in the backyard of a Nichols Avenue home.

Ranger owned the car that residents had reported as suspicious, police said, but his license was suspended and his car wasn’t registered or insured. Cops detained Young while investigating.

A police dog from Trumbull performed a track beginning from where a witness saw the two men park on Waverly Road.

The track led to a home on Waverly Terrace where it was discovered that the home had been burglarized,” Bango’s statement said.

Cops then charged both of the men with burglarizing the home.

Upon searching Young incident to arrest, jewelry, a watch and a black mask were located on his person,” Bango said. The jewelry and watch were determined to be property from the burglarized home.

Ranger and Young were charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal mischief.

Young was held on $100,000 bond and Ranger was held on $75,000 bond. Both were expected to be arraigned at Superior Court in Derby Wednesday.
